As the principal behind Hills & Associates, Randall has enjoyed a 30-year career in business and professional practice. After graduating from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, Randall joined KPMG Auckland and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Shortly afterwards he was seconded to the London office of KPMG, where he worked for two years.

More overseas experience followed – at KPMG Abu Dhabi – and then it was time to return home, where he took up a role as Senior Group Audit Manager at KPMG Auckland.

After nine years with KPMG, Randall felt the call of industry and joined the Thornton Hall Group as Financial Controller. Thornton Hall were designers and manufacturers of corporate wardrobes and women’s fashion, selling through their own chain of Thornton Hall and Hullabaloo shops, as well as wholesaling throughout New Zealand and Australia. Working in the frontline of a fast-moving industry further sharpened Randall’s eye for business risks and opportunities.

In 1991 Randall established his own accounting practice as a sole practitioner with an emphasis on helping small and medium-sized enterprises manage and grow their businesses. In 2002 Hills & Associates Ltd was created.
